Kathryn was a great help to me in decorating both my last home and my current one. Initially, Kathryn met with me to view my home and learn my thoughts, style, vision, and budget. She aided me in selecting fabric for draperies and choosing artwork, and accessories. In my current home, Kathryn again met with me to discuss my ideas. She helped me select paint colors for several rooms. Visitors to my home always compliment the paint colors (usually immediately upon entering my home before they have even taken off their coats!). Kathryn also offered helpful suggestions about furniture placement and use of space. The draperies and artwork from my prior home are also in my new home and often receive compliments as well. My friends often comment how much my home “feels like you, Marie.” While I enjoy the compliments from others, what’s most important is how proud and relaxed I feel in my home. After shopping all over town for my new living room décor, I found I had too many choices. To keep from making a costly mistake, I consulted with Kathryn Boylston. After explaining my vision, she helped guide me towards the best selections to achieve the results I was seeking. She looked at photos of the furnishings, fabric and trim pre-selections, and wood finishes. With her advice I was able to order my new décor with confidence. When everything was delivered and in place I felt like something was off. I consulted with Kathryn again; she took one look and suggested putting the rug at an angle. That did it! Working with Kathryn at Stage 2 Stay has been an absolute pleasure. I have never been comfortable with the idea of hiring a “designer”. I do not like formal living nor would I want my home to feel like it was decorated with someone else’s style. My inability to decorate and refusal to hire a decorator led me to a house filled with old, tired furniture and no style. Kathryn’s ability to ease my anxiety about decorating is amazing. She is a warm, confident woman with an eye for creating something from nothing. She took inventory of the room she was helping me with and other items from throughout the house. She moved things around, tweaked placement of items, rearranged furniture, incorporated items that were special to us and - voila! – the room looked tremendously better – without purchasing anything new! Following this meeting and simple transformation, she presented us with a room layout and suggestions for a few items that could be purchased that would further improve the room. She suggested colors and styles to look for. She made note of items for purchase that she spotted while out shopping and then emailed pictures to us. What a great time saver! Upon seeing that I was still overwhelmed and stressed by the shopping task before me, she suggested that we shop together. I have never had so much fun shopping for furniture! She pointed me in the right direction and steered me away from poor purchases. It was a wonderful experience. The furniture arrived shortly thereafter and changed the entire feel of the room. The pieces that she suggested were within my budget and matched my taste perfectly. The room is so comfortable that my family spends much more time in it now. We have received compliments on the changes since the first day!
